金型落水紙は、落水紙の中でも特に高度な技法を用いた、越前和紙の高級品です。

手漉きで仕上げられるこの和紙は、他にはないやわらかな風合いと繊細な手触りをもち、「和の美」を象徴する逸品として高く評価されています。

製造には、紙の原料を木型に敷き、水で湿らせて模様の凹凸を生み出す「落水技法」が用いられます。さらに、職人が手作業で丁寧に表面を擦り合わせ、模様部分を抜き取ることで、独特の表情と質感が生まれます。

本品に施されている模様は、「青海波（せいがいは）」と呼ばれる伝統文様です。
広がる波を図案化したこの模様には、「穏やかな暮らしが末永く続くように」という願いが込められており、古くから縁起のよい文様として親しまれてきました。

Kana-gata Rakusui Paper is a premium form of Echizen washi, produced through refined craftsmanship using one of the most sophisticated rakusui (watermark) techniques.

This handmade paper offers a soft texture and delicate tactile quality, representing the essence of traditional Japanese aesthetics.

The production process involves layering natural pulp into a wooden mold, then moistening the surface to create a pattern in relief using the rakusui technique. Skilled artisans then gently rub and remove selected areas by hand, resulting in a paper with uniquely textured patterns.

The pattern featured on this sheet is known as Seigaiha (“Blue Ocean Waves”), a traditional motif that symbolizes lasting peace and a life of harmony. It has long been regarded as an auspicious design in Japanese culture.
